TANGLEWOOD. The name is readily recognizable worldwide as the place where
James Levine, Serge Koussevitzky, Seiji Ozawa and a host of other
world-class conductors have exhibited their skills. Spanning nearly seven decades to date, Tanglewood has been the birthplace of much of the world's musical genius.
Unprecedented talent, remarkable atmosphere and impeccable grounds combine to make Tanglewood a destination for visitors to Lenox from across the globe. The summer home of
the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1936, the Shed and Ozawa Hall still host a remarkable variety of performers each summer, offering everything from chamber music to jazz.
|
The best-know venue within the Tanglewood grounds is the Shed. Ozawa Hall, pictured here, is situated
on the grounds and plays host to many superb event over the course of the season. Mezzanine seating, accoustical perfection, lawn seating and ambience
create the ideal setting for operas, chamber music and other concerts where a smaller, more intimate crowd is expected. Named after former BSO Director Seiji Ozawa,
