WE HAVE TANGLEWOOD 2008 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS POSTED HERE!!!



Conductor James Levine and the Boston Symphony Orchestra will kick off the 2008 Tanglewood season with a concert performance of Berlioz' massive opera "Les Troyens (The Trojans)," which will be offered in two parts on July 5 and 6. The Tanglewood season runs through Aug. 24 and includes guests such as cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianists Yefim Bronfman and Emanuel Ax, and conductors Leonard Slatkin, Bernard Haitink and Miguel Harth Bedoya. Artists appearing in Ozawa Hall will include the Kronos Quartet, the vocal ensemble Chanticleer, and Broadway legend Barbara Cook.

In the pop realm, the Koussevitzky Music Shed will once again host a live broadcast of "A Prairie Home Companion" and two concerts by Berkshires resident James Taylor. Also, John Williams' popular "Film Night" will feature selections from the next summer's adventure "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."

This year's Festival of Contemporary Music runs July 20-24 and features 10 concerts, all dedicated to the music of American composer Elliott Carter, who turns 100 next year.

Unless otherwise noted, all Friday and Saturday performances in the Koussevitzky Music Shed are at 8:30 p.m. New this 2008 year is an 8 p.m. start time for events in Ozawa Hall. Sunday performances begin at 2:30 p.m.
