The Tanglewood 2006 Season Highlights were released on November 18, 2005. Here, for your convenience, is the information as it appeared in The Berkshire Eagle. For a full article regarding the 2006 season, click this link. Otherwise, view the hightlights by date listed below. We are taking reservations for next summer and are already partially booked. Tickets for these events will go on sale to the public on February 12, 2006. Tickets can be obtained as of that date by calling SymphonyCharge at (888) 266-1200 or via the BSO's website.

June 29, July 2, July 6, July 9, July 13, July 16, July 18, and July 20 — Garrick Ohlsson will perform the complete cycle of Beethoven's piano sonatas

June 30 — The Juilliard String Quartet wil perform Schubert's Quartet in A minor, D. 804, "Rosamunde," Viñao's Quartet No. 2, "The Loss and the Silence," and Brahms' Quartet No. 3 in B-flat, Op. 67

July 1 — Garrison Keillor presents the live broadcast of "A Prairie Home Companion"

July 7 — James Levine conducts the BSO in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Also includes Schoenberg's Chamber Symphony No. 1

July 8 — Bernard Haitink conducts the BSO with Emanuel Ax in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat, K. 482. Also includes Ravel's Alborada del gracioso, Roussel's Symphony No. 3, and Debussy's "Prélude a l'Apres-midi d'un faune"

July 9 — Bernard Haitink conducts the BSO with Joshua Bell in Sibelius' Violin Concerto, also includes Mahler's Symphony No. 1

July 11 — Pianist Yefim Bronfman, violinist Gil Shaham, and cellist Truls Mørk give an all-Schubert program including Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat, D. 898, and Piano Trio No. 2 in E-flat, D. 929

July 12 — Keith Lockhart conducts the Boston Pops in a tribute to Leonard Bernstein

July 14 — James Levine conducts the BSO in Schoenberg's "Gurrelieder"

July 15 — James Levine conducts the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra in Strauss' opera "Elektra"

July 16 — Sir Andrew Davis conducts the BSO with Jean-Yves Thibaudet in Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2. Also includes Kodaly's Dances of Galanta and Dvorak's Symphony No. 6

July 19 — Emerson String Quartet performs Shostakovich's Quartet No. 13 in B-flat minor, Op. 138, Quartet No. 14 in F-sharp, Op. 142, and Quartet No. 15 in E-flat minor, Op. 144

July 21 — James Levine conducts the BSO with pianist Richard Goode in an all-Mozart program including Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat, a solo with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and Symphony No. 41, "Jupiter"

July 22 — James Levine conducts the BSO in Mozart's "Don Giovanni"

July 23 — James Levine conducts the BSO in an all-Mozart program with the Requiem, Serenade No. 9 in D, K. 320, "Posthorn"

July 25 — James Levine, Keith Lockhart, John Williams conduct the BSO, Boston Pops, and Tanglewood Music Center orchestra in Tanglewood on Parade; program includes Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, cannon and fireworks

July 27 and 28 — James Levine conducts the Fellows of the Tanglewood Music Center in Elliott Carter's opera "What Next?," Hindemith's "Hin und zurück" and Stravinsky's "Mavra"

July 28 — Ludovic Morlot conducts the BSO with André Watts in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 Also includes Berlioz' Le Corsaire Overture, Ravel's La Valse, and George Perle's "Transcendental Modulations"

July 29 — Hans Graf conducts the BSO with Gil Shaham in Beethoven's Violin Concerto, also includes Stravinsky's "The Firebird"

July 30 — Kurt Masur conducts the BSO with Midori in Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1. Also includes Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4, Italian, and Strauss' "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks"

Aug. 4 — Donald Runnicles conducts the BSO with Yo-Yo Ma in Osvaldo Golijov's Cello Concerto, also includes Janacek's Idyll for strings and Elgar's Enigma Variations.

Aug. 5 — Seiji Ozawa conducts the BSO in Mahler's Symphony Number 2, "Resurrection"

Aug. 6 — Donald Runnicles conducts the BSO with Christian Zacharias in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor." Also includes Mozart's Symphony No. 38, "Prague," and the Suite from Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier"

Aug. 11 — Harry Bicket conducts the BSO with mezzo-soprano Lorraine Hunt Lieberson in a selection of Handel arias. Also includes J.S. Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D, Handel's Royal Fireworks Music, and J. S. Bach's Violin Concerto in E, with violinist Corey Cerovsek

Aug. 12 — Keith Lockhart conducts the Boston Pops in Film Night

Aug. 13 — Christoph Eschenbach conducts the The Philadelphia Orchestra in Overture to Beethoven's "The Creatures of Prometheus," Beethoven's Symphony No. 8, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5

Aug. 15 — Boston Symphony Chamber Players perform Mozart's Serenade No. 12 in C minor for winds, K. 388, Michael Gandolfi's Plain Song, Fantastic Dances and Schubert's String Quintet in C, D. 956

Aug. 18 — Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducts the BSO with Josep Colom in Manuel de Falla's "Nights in the Gardens of Spain," and BSO Principal Harp Ann Hobson Pilot as soloist in Frühbeck de Burgos's orchestration of Turina's Theme and Variations, for harp and strings. Also includes Debussy's La Mer and Ravel's Boléro

Aug. 19 — Herbert Blomstedt conducts the BSO with Hilary Hahn in Dvorak's Violin Concerto. Also includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica"

Aug. 20 — Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducts the BSO in an all-Brahms program with Peter Serkin in the Piano Concerto No. 2, also includes Symphony No. 2

Aug. 20 — Keith Lockhart conducts the Boston Pops with vocal group Rockapella

Aug. 23 — Yo-Yo Ma and Emanuel Ax perform an all-Beethoven recital includes Variations in G on "See the Conquering Hero Comes" from Handel's Judas Maccabaeus, WoO 45, Cello Sonata No. 5 in D, Op. 102, No. 2, and Cello Sonata No. 2 in G minor, Op. 5, No. 2

Aug. 25 — Gustavo Dudamel conducts the BSO with Imogen Cooper in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1, also includes Bernstein's "Shivaree" and Falla's complete "The Three-cornered Hat"

Aug. 26 — Herbert Blomstedt conducts the BSO with Emanuel Ax in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2. Also includes Bruckner's Symphony No. 7

Aug. 27 — Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducts the BSO in an all-Beethoven program with pianist Yefim Bronfman in Piano Concerto No. 4 Also includes the Beethoven Symphony No. 7
